The sun is warming things up, the birds are looking for places to build, and the Spring bulbs have started to have green shoots. It's time to get up and out and start doing stuff - rake the lawn, pick up the trash from the winter, start a new quilt project...

NEW FABRIC

Let’s Race from Clothworks features race cars, tread marks and crowds. Check the fabrics page for samples and the kits page for the sample quilt from Clothworks.

Space Ranger from Avlyn is out of this world. The line features a cloth book and a space panel. The panel has the sun and all the planets, asteroids, and stars. The stars glow in the dark!

New bolts of color have arrived for the Rock Candy and Splash lines from Blank. You need to see the Rock Candy in person to get the full effect of the shimmer in this line of fabric.

NEW BOOKS

Day and Night is the latest book from Eleanor Burns of Quilt in A Day. Eleanor brings an old pattern (1933) into the 21st Century. The book includes a new ruler that makes creating stars from strips a snap.

Link to the ‘30s; making the quilts we didn’t inherit is a new arrival from That Patchwork Place. There are 9 authentic 1930s patterns in the book.

Easy Applique Blocks is also from That Patchwork Place. This book features a CD with 50 designs in 5 sizes. The author, Kay Mackenzie give tips and instructions for hand and machine appliqué. Learn about freezer paper on top technique, back basting, or raw edge machine appliqué.
